Every call answered, even the ones that came in while Nick was on a roof.

Nick McIntier runs Ridgeline's trucks himself. When he's on a job, the phone goes to voicemail, and in home services, a missed call is a missed job. So we put an AI receptionist on the line to catch every one.

1,560 +
calls answered across 8 months (Sept 2025 – Apr 2026)
195 /mo
on average, peaking near 230 a month in winter
~ 385
real leads captured, about 1 in 4 calls that would've hit voicemail
Being an owner/operator working in the field and answering every call is impossible. That's where Riley (Voice AI) steps in…

The problem

A one-man shop can't answer every call

Nick McIntier owns Ridgeline and runs the trucks himself. When he's on a roof or under a furnace, the phone goes to voicemail, and a full-time receptionist isn't worth it for a small shop.

In home services that's expensive: 85% of callers who hit voicemail never call back, and 62% just dial a competitor. Every missed call is a missed job, and Nick had no way to know how many were slipping away.

What we did

Put a receptionist on the line that never misses

Step 1

Built “Riley”

We trained an AI phone receptionist on Ridgeline's business, so it answers like a real member of the team.

Step 2

Answered every call

Riley picks up 24/7, including the calls Nick can't get to on a roof, and collects each caller's name, number, and what they need.

Step 3

Routed the real leads

Qualified leads get texted straight to Nick to call back; spam, misdials, and vendor calls are filtered out automatically.

But how much revenue is a captured call?

Nick's real call numbers, run against published HVAC averages.

$53,130
in booked work over the engagement, about $6,641 a month
385 captured leads from Nick's own call logs
× 46% booked using the published HVAC industry-average close rate
× $300 per job using a conservative HVAC service & repair ticket
= $53,130 total booked work

Conservative industry averages. Nick's real numbers would only move it up.

The result

Every call answered, around the clock

Over 8 months, Riley answered ~1,560 calls, 195 a month on average, peaking near 230/month through the winter heating rush. At a measured 24.7% capture rate, that's roughly 48 real leads a month, about 385 jobs that would otherwise have gone to voicemail and walked to a competitor.

When a phone-provider switch briefly cut call-forwarding to the agent, the gap was obvious enough that Ridgeline is bringing Riley back online. The calls were too valuable to lose.

Being an owner/operator working in the field and answering every call is impossible. That's where Riley (Voice AI) steps in, collects the customer's info and what they need, and I call back when I have time. You can barely tell he's an AI!
